Fatal Accident in Caernarvon Twp. Berks County

At 05:45, a BLS accident was alerted in the area of the Lowes in Caernarvon Township, Berks County. The dispatch brought Elverson EMS for one unit and Twin Valley Fire Department. Moments after the initial alert both companies along with Brandywine Hospital Medic 93 were re-alerted for the accident which had been upgraded to entrapment. This weekend three crews headed to Pocono Raceway to provide medical assistance for the Nascar Pocono 500 race. Crews were at the raceway by 6:30 in the morning each day and provided a BLS transport for anyone injured in the grandstand section of the track. Today the community was invited to come and check out all that Elverson EMS and surround mutual aid companies have to offer. Staff and volunteers spent the past week preparing for the Open House with cleaning of the building and apparatus. Members spent Friday night arranging baked goods for a bake sale at the event. Early Morning Wreck In Wallace Township

This morning around 07:00 hrs station 48 (Glenmoore) and Elverson EMS were dispatched to an accident involving one vehicle with unknown injuries. 89-20 (N. Spece) arrived on the scene in front of 110 Fairview Rd to find a two vehicle collsion involving a parked vehicle. Wacky Wednesday Brings Multiple Calls

The week started slow with 5 only calls on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, but crews were kept busy on Wednesday with a total of 7 calls. 4 of the calls were handled by the career staff on the first due ambulance and the other 3 calls were handled by volunteer crews on the second due ambulance. After the busy day of responding to emergencies, members of Elverson EMS traveled to Goshen Fire Co. in West Chester to attend the Chester County Department of Emergency Services EMT graduation. Mike Wilson and Jen Miller attended the 5 month long course to obtain their EMT certification along with a CPR, EPI- Pen, and CPAP certifications.
