Tonight members attended the annual Chester County EMS Council Awards ceremony at the Red Clay Room at the Kennett Square Fire Co.. After a brief introduction from EMS Council President, Leo Scaccia, a delicious dinner was provided. After the meal State Senator Andrew E. Dinniman addressed the crowd and asked for input on what the state could do to better volunteer recruitment in the emergency services. Many services had great ideas for the senator. After the senator's speech the awards ceremony began. Numerous emergency medical services personnel were given awards for their ongoing commitment to serve the public. Deputy Chief J. Carmen and and Career EMT Jason Brooks were recognized for their success in reviving a 36 year old patient who went into cardiac arrest while being transported to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital the patient was breathing on his own and had a steady heart rhythm. EMT Brooks was also awarded the BLS Provider of the Year award. This award is given to an EMT or First Responder who has made a significant contribution in the community and shows great leadership in the field among peers. Elverson EMS would like to congratulate D/C Joe Carmen and EMT Jason Brooks on their awards. We would also like to congratulate all the other award winners this evening.
