When seconds count in a cardiac arrest situation, it is important that we get to the patient quickly and have the most up to date equipment to give a better chance to survival. Today new A.E.D.'s (Automatic External Defibrillator) were placed into service on both ambulances. The new units were purchased through a cost share grant. The new equipment is more up to date than our 6 year old defibrillators. The new life saving devices will enable the user to use the defibrillator on a child. This is a new practice that was approved with in the past year. The old A.E.D.'s will not go out of service but will be kept as back ups and be placed in service with the on call duty officers.
